Mississippi State University's inaugural Hunter Henry Lecture in Chemical Engineering will be presented Wednesday [April 3] by the head of the world's largest chemical company.
The public address by Michael D. Parker, president and chief executive officer of Dow Chemical Co., begins at 3:30 p.m. in the George Eastman Auditorium of the Swalm Chemical Engineering Building. "The Keys to Unlocking Value: People, Innovation and Growth" is his topic.
The Henry Lecture honors the Canton native and 1950 MSU chemical engineering graduate who retired as Dow Chemical's executive vice president. National alumnus of the year in 1988, Henry is the lead donor for an $8 million building--the Hunter Henry Center--currently being constructed to house offices of the MSU Foundation and Alumni Association.
Parker's address will focus on Dow Chemical's efforts to increase its manufacturing performance by further developing its workforce, inspiring innovative and sustainable approaches to business, and pursuing value growth.
President and CEO for the past two years, Parker began his Dow career in 1968. He has held a variety of company assignments in the research, manufacturing and commercial areas.
He received a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Manchester (England) and a master's from the Manchester Business School.
