A senior exhibition by five graduating Mississippi State art majors is being featured through May 3 in the university's McComas Hall Art Gallery.

The works of Jenifer [cq] S. Carlee of Centreville, Ala., Paul R. Hobson of Jackson, Mary C. Jensen of Brandon, Lauren J. McClure of Collierville, Tenn., and Catherine H. Owen of Mobile, Ala., are featured. Carlee has specialized in photography; Hobson, in sculpture; and Jensen, McClure and Owen, all in painting and graphic design.

A public reception formally opening the event will take place 7-9 p.m. Thursday [April 18] in the gallery. Regular gallery hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays-Fridays and 1-4 p.m. Sundays.

Carlee's work includes a series of sepia-toned black-and-white images of old machinery, while Hobson's works of raspberry ripple alabaster explore the interaction of lines, shapes and forms.

Jensen has prepared 84 six-by-eight paintings that document her daily life during the 2002 spring semester. McClure has created a cast of characters based around her family and situated in a kitchen. Owen's paintings feature layers of acrylic covered in glazes of oil and polyurethane.
