During February and March, Mississippi State is offering half-day computer application classes ranging from spreadsheets to presentation software.
Available through the university's Division of Continuing Education, the workshops cover three areas of Microsoft Office, with differing sections for beginning and advanced students. All courses require basic computer proficiency.
"Each class is being taught by an MSU faculty member and will benefit anyone wishing to update job skills or learn more about Microsoft for personal use," said program facilitator Valerie Tate.
All meeting on campus in 107 Dorman Hall, the courses include:
--Introduction to Word 2000 for Windows, Feb. 9, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Basic features of the word processing program, including creating simple documents.
--PowerPoint 2000: A Presentation Graphics Program for Windows, Feb. 16, 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. Outlining, designing and creating simple presentations.
--PowerPoint 2000: Beyond the Basics, Feb. 23, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Customizing templates by inserting and editing clip art and photos.
--Introduction to Microsoft Access 2000, March 1, 1- 5 p.m. An overview of the Microsoft Access database and creating and editing tables.
--Intermediate Word 2000 for Windows, March 9, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Exploring a variety of graphical and desktop publishing elements.
--Advanced Microsoft Access 2000, March 22, 1-5 p.m. Advanced features of form query and report design.
