Top graduating high school students are being invited to Mississippi State Feb. 8 for the university's 13th annual Minority Student Achievement Day.

The daylong program salutes the academic accomplishments of seniors from throughout the region, said John Dickerson, director of enrollment services.

"With particular emphasis given to Mississippi State's varied academic offerings, this program also affords the students with an opportunity to experience life on a major college campus," he added.

Invitations have been mailed to seniors scoring well on the American College or Scholastic Aptitude tests. School counselors also are nominating students with superior academic achievements.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. in the Colvard Union. Nearly 300 persons from throughout Mississippi and the four surrounding states attended last year.

After being special guests at a breakfast hosted by university officials, the visitors will tour campus and attend a mid-morning general assembly. Lunch and dinner meals also are being provided, with the midday meal offering entertainment from the MSU Black Voices.
