Popular landscape design event to be held this month at MSU

The 46th annual Mississippi Landscape Design Symposium will be held Oct. 17 at Mississippi State University.

Sponsored by the Garden Clubs of Mississippi Inc., in cooperation with MSU's department of landscape architecture, the public program takes place 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Wise Center auditorium. Registration is $15 per person.

The three sessions this year are titled "Garden Design with Plant Material in Relationship to Structure," "Garden Design with Structure in Relationship to Plant Material" and "Garden Design for Easier Maintenance."

Speakers include Jackson landscape architect Richard C. Griffin and Edward C. Martin, MSU professor emeritus of landscape architecture.

Founded by Martin, the symposium is the longest-running event of its kind in the nation.
