MSU again offering special classes for taxation practitioners

Accountants, attorneys and others involved in federal and state tax matters are invited to enroll in any one of nine current-issues seminars being offered by Mississippi State during November and December.

Organized annually by the university's College of Business and Industry, the continuing professional education programs are held in convenient locations stretching from Gulfport to Southaven. The seminars are designed to qualify participants for eight hours of CPE credit.

MSU accounting professor Zoel Daughtrey, senior Internal Revenue Service tax specialist Troy Haase and State Tax Commission Director Terry Smith will share instructional duties at each 8:30 a.m.-4:15 p.m. session.

An $80 registration fee includes the cost of classroom materials, instruction, certificate of completion, and refreshments.

The 2001 session dates and locations include:

--Nov. 20, Gulfport, Fine Arts Auditorium on the Jefferson Davis Campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.

--Nov. 27, Starkville, Bost Extension Center auditorium at MSU.

--Nov. 28, Tupelo, Technical Education Building lecture room at Itawamba Community College/Tupelo Campus.

--Nov. 29, Southaven, Desoto Civic Center.

--Dec. 4 and 5, Educational Television auditorium at the Mississippi Education and Research Center (3825 Ridgewood Road).

--Dec. 6, Meridian, the Multipurpose Room of MSU-Meridian.

--Dec. 7, Hattiesburg, Lake Terrace Convention Center.
