Scholars' Recognition Day for the Southeast's top high school seniors will be held Sept. 15 at Mississippi State University.
Students with high American College or Scholastic Aptitude test scores recently received invitations from President Malcolm Portera. Each has achieved either a composite ACT score of at least 28 (out of a maximum 36) or the equivalent SAT score of 1240.
John Dickerson, director of enrollment services, said Scholars Recognition Day is an annual fall program sponsored by the MSU Alumni Association.
"Following campus tours during the morning, the students and their parents will attend a luncheon with Dr. Portera and other university leaders," Dickerson said. "Other portions of their day involve meetings with the academic deans and faculty members in the chosen or anticipated fields of study, as well as with representatives of the University Honors Program."
Information also will be provided on financial aid, scholarships, student life, housing, and MSU's nationally recognized cooperative education program, Dickerson added.
Other activities will include:
--A picnic and open house sponsored by the University Honors Council, and
--Special guest seating for the Brigham Young University-MSU football game at Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field.
"Mississippi State recognizes many accomplishments of these outstanding young men and women," Dickerson said. "That's why the entire Mississippi State family makes this special effort to formally congratulate them and their parents."
