The research reports of two Mississippi State University graduate students share top honors in competition sponsored by the Tri-State Engineering Society.

Computer science major Giovanni Modica of Caracas, Venezuela, and Pujita Pinnamaneni of Chennai, India, a computer engineering major, tied for first place at the society's recent annual meeting in Destin, Fla.

The organization includes engineering professionals in Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana.

Modica's report in the area of cooperative databases was based on work he has done under the direction of assistant professor of computer science Hasan Jamil.

Pinnamaneni's entry, which involved an aspect of the Java computer language, resulted from work she is doing under the direction of assistant professor of computer science Joerg Meyer.
