It won't be an official meeting of the United Nations, but the 11th Annual International Fiesta at Mississippi State may seem to be.
More than 80 countries will be represented at the April 7 cultural education event sponsored by the World Neighbors Association of Starkville and the university's Office of International Services.
Open to all, the fiesta will take place 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on the Drill Field. In case of inclement weather, activities will be moved to the Bost Extension Center.
Following an opening presentation of international flags, the fiesta will feature musical entertainment, arts and crafts exhibits, dance, song and exotic costume displays, and an international cooking contest, among others.
Several children-oriented booths will require the purchase of a 25-cent ticket (a book of five tickets will be available for $1). These include a caricature artist; the Filipino children's game pabitan; a piñata contest; face painting; and a moonwalk.
