Mississippi State's 28th annual Halloween Carnival is expected to draw hundreds of kids of all ages Thursday [Oct. 26] to the university amphitheater.

To begin at 6:30 p.m., the Campus Activities Board-organized event features a series of game booths for all comers. Playing fees will range from 25 cents to a dollar, with all proceeds being donated to a Starkville child suffering from a rare disease that affects his muscle tissue.

Also scheduled between the opening and 9 p.m. are a free children's costume contest, an MSU Fashion Board's ScHAIRy Hair Show and a Office of Recreational Sports-organized pumpkin cut. Additionally, Zeta Phi Beta social sorority and Phi Beta Sigma social fraternity will sponsor a step show, while the campus chapter of Americorps is holding a book drive to benefit local schools.

In case of rain, the carnival will move to the Colvard Union ballroom.

Prior to the event at 5:30 p.m., MSU campus fraternity and sorority houses will begin welcoming young trick-or-treaters in search of Halloween goodies.
