Six freshmen from North and Central Mississippi are this year's Hunter Henry Endowed Scholars in Engineering at Mississippi State University.
Scott D. Crymble and Matthew E. Fox of Tupelo, Mark A. Geoffriau of Clinton, Laura J. Herron of Batesville, Elizabeth A. Hester of Hattiesburg, and Brian A. Nagel of Jackson are each receiving $2,500 annually for four years.
Henry Scholarships recognize entering mechanical and chemical engineering majors with demonstrated outstanding academic and leadership qualities. Crymble, Herron and Hester are chemical engineering majors, while Fox, Geoffriau and Nagel are seeking degrees in mechanical engineering.
The scholarships were established in 1994 through a $1 million endowment by MSU alumnus Hunter W. Henry Jr. and his wife Lila of San Marcos, Texas, and their son James E. "Jim" Henry of Denham Springs, La., also an MSU graduate. Hunter Henry is formerly of Canton.
Crymble is a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist who graduated first in his class of 362 at Tupelo High School. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Crymble.
Fox was named to Who's Who among American High School Students from his sophomore through senior years at THS. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Fox.
Geoffriau is a graduate of Covenant Christian High School, where he was a National Merit Scholarship finalist. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jean-Michel Geoffriau.
Herron was included in Who's Who Among American High School Students from her freshman through senior years at North Delta High School. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon E. Herron.
Hester is a graduate of Oak Grove High School, where she received Distinguished Scholar Independent Research Project awards during the junior and senior years. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Hester.
Nagel is a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist who graduated first in his class of 233 at Murrah High School. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Nagel.
