The dean of the Mississippi State University libraries is joining the Southeastern Library Network's board of directors.

Frances N. Coleman recently was elected to the 15-member body, which leads a nonprofit organization serving more than 800 libraries in 10 states and the Caribbean.

With headquarters in Atlanta, Ga., SOLINET is the nation's largest regional library network.

At Mississippi State, Coleman heads a system that includes the Mitchell Memorial, School of Architecture and College of Veterinary Medicine libraries.

In addition to the American Library Association, she is a member of--and has held leading positions in--the Association of College and Research Libraries, Southeastern and Mississippi library associations, as well as Mississippi Alliance for Gaining New Opportunities through Library Information Access or MAGNOLIA.
