State insurance commissioner George Dale and his Alabama and South Carolina counterparts will be at Mississippi State April 19 to help open the university's 13th Annual Mississippi Insurance Day.

Each spring, the College of Business and Industry's Peter K. Lutken-Mississippi Chair of Insurance sponsors the daylong continuing education program for professionals and others in the field. Robert A. Hershbarger holds the Lutken-Mississippi Chair (endowed professorship).

More than 300 are expected to be in attendance when Dale, along with David Parson of Montgomery and Ernst Csiszar of Columbia, speak in the Wise Center auditorium.

Following the opening session, five successive presentations on topics of current interest will take place in nearby classrooms. This year's subjects include "Meeting Traditional and New Competition," "Bank-Insurance Agency Relationships," "Office Technology," "Accident Reconstruction," and "Health Insurance for the New Millennium."

A mock insurance trial presided over by Rankin County Court Judge Kent McDaniel will conclude the day's activities.

Six hours of continuing education credit are available for attorneys, claims adjusters, property and casualty agents, and life and health insurance agents.

Also encouraged to attend are fire investigators, legislators, municipal and county managers, and law enforcement officials, among others.

For more information, telephone Hershbarger at (662) 325-7475.
