A weeklong interactive, multimedia art exhibit begins Friday [March 31] at Mississippi State University's McComas Hall Gallery.
A 7-9 p.m. public reception officially opens the presentations of MSU graduate students Jeanne M. Richard and Jeffrey S. Thruston. Both are completing master's degrees in electronic visualization with multimedia emphasis, and their works were developed for their graduate theses.
Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday and 1-4 p.m. Sunday. The exhibition concludes April 7.
"Suspension and Chickens" is the title of Richard's video installation that invites guests to view and interact with objects within the gallery. She said the goal of her work is "to immerse the viewer in a relaxing environment, fostering creativity and open thought."
A native of Boston, Mass., she completed a bachelor's degree in drawing, painting and printmaking from Ohio State University in 1994.
Thruston's exhibition is titled "Constructing Realities and Emotional Responses." His work involves digital prints and interactive media, which he describes as focusing on "seeing and interacting with emotion, where the audience can experience their own emotions."
Thruston is an Athens, Ga., native who received a bachelor of fine arts degree in sculpture from the University of Georgia in 1991.
