Mississippi State's music education department presents its fall choral concert Thursday [Nov. 11] at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on University Drive in Starkville.
The 7:30 p.m. university program is open to all.
Dylan C. Savage, visiting lecturer in choral music, will conduct the MSU Madrigal Singers and Concert Choir in a program of works ranging from the mid-Renaissance to the 20th century.
Leanne H. Fazio, professor of organ and music history, will provide accompaniment.
The Madrigal Singers' performance will include the works of composers John Bennett, Henry Purcell and Orlando di Lasso. Their portion of the program concludes with two sacred works, "O Divine Redeemer" by Charles Gounod and "Marienlieder" (Songs of Mary) by Johannes Brahms.
The Concert Choir's repertoire of sacred works includes excerpts from "Jesu Meine Freude" (Jesus, My Great Pleasure) by J.S. Bach, "Visions of St. Joseph" by John Ness Beck and "Jubilate Deo Omnis Terra" (Sing to God with Gladness) by Flor Peeters.
Other performances scheduled by the department during the 1999-2000 school year include the Dec. 6 University Madrigal Dinner and spring semester choral concerts in February and April.
