The Association of Retired Faculty at Mississippi State will pay special tribute Friday [Aug. 20] to one of its own, a former dean recently chosen to receive one of the university's first honorary doctoral degrees.

The program honoring Harry C. F. Simrall, dean emeritus of the College of Engineering, and his wife Mary Virginia begins at 10 a.m. at the Deposit Guaranty National Bank's third-floor conference area.

Simrall, who retired in 1978, is an MSU alumnus who had a 44-year teaching and administrative career at his Starkville alma mater. He also completed graduate work at the University of Illinois.

In May, he joined fellow MSU alumni John H. Bryan Jr. and Leo W. Seal Jr. as the institution's first recipients of honorary degrees since the Board of Trustees, Institutions of Higher Learning allowed the tributes last year.

Joining ARF president Joe Cardwell on the program will be DGNB president Larry Jones, Paul B. Jacob, professor emeritus of electrical engineering, and current engineering Dean A. Wayne Bennett.

For more information on the program, telephone Cardwell at 323-4481.
