MSU to repair streets, parking lots next week

Contact: Kay Fike Jones

Taking advantage of the March 8-12 spring break, a Columbus contractor will undertake seven street and parking lot repair projects at Mississippi State University.

Weather permitting, all work should be completed before university classes resume at 8 a.m. on the 15th. The first location will be Allen Hall's west side parking lot, which will be closed Saturday [March 6] so crews can begin preparations.

President's Circle, the street circling south of Allen, will remain open during the work period.

Falcon Contracting of Columbus is handling the repair work in coordination with the MSU Physical Plant. Other streets and parking areas to be closed for paving include:

--Tracy Drive between the Lloyd-Ricks Building and the Lloyd-Ricks Annex,

--Extension Drive, which runs along the west side of the Bost Extension Center to Barr Avenue,

--the parking lot for Critz and Hightower residence halls,

--Rice Hall Drive, between McComas and Rice halls,

--the driveway along the east side of the Newell-Grissom Building, and

--the alley between Walker and Etheredge engineering buildings.

For additional information on the paving projects, telephone Physical Plant director Don Mott at (601) 325-2052.
