The president of Mississippi's largest university will address alumni and supporters at two Texas gatherings in March.
Malcolm Portera, inaugurated in early February as Mississippi State University's 16th president, will outline university goals and plans to strengthen the academic scholarship program through the Patrons of Excellence, a donor recognition club that honors $1,000-a-year contributors.
The Dallas and Greater Fort Worth chapters of the MSU Alumni Association are sponsoring a meeting on March 8 at the DoubleTree Hotel at Dallas' Lincoln Center.
The Houston Chapter will host a similar gathering on the 9th at the downtown Allen Park Inn on the Bayou.
A 6 p.m. reception will precede Portera's 7 p.m. remarks at the Dallas event. Tickets are $10 per person, which includes light hors d'oeuvres. A cash bar will be available.
