NASA scientist to discuss U.S. market leadership in MSU speech

A NASA senior aerospace scientist will be featured speaker Wednesday [Nov. 11] for a regional gathering of mechanical engineers at Mississippi State University.

Christos C. Chamis will lead a 2 p.m. public program in Simrall Hall Auditorium sponsored by the Northeast Mississippi Group of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. His presentation will focus on the nation's need to develop a technology base that provides better, faster and cheaper products in order to maintain leadership in world markets.

Senior aerospace scientist for the space agency's Lewis Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio, Chamis is an expert in structural mechanics for aerospace structures and composites. He has 25 years experience in research and methodology development and has received several awards for pioneering research activities.

ASME is a worldwide engineering society focusing on technical, educational and research issues.

Chamis also will speak at the engineering group's 5:30 p.m. dinner in the Colvard Union. Reservations are required to attend this event.
