Mississippi State University students are among the top winners of a recent regional competition sponsored by the National Society of Black Engineers.

One of two MSU teams took first-place honors, while the other made it to the third round of a five-round contest. A knowledge-based quiz patterned after the TV show "Jeopardy," the event involved some 20 teams from various Southeastern schools.

The contest was part of the engineering society's Region III fall conference at the University of Kentucky. In addition to Mississippi and Kentucky, states represented included Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee.
