A month-long summer studies program in London and its environs will be available in 1999 through the Mississippi State University Honors Program.

Any enrolled MSU student may participate and earn academic credit.

The July 8-Aug. 9 session is coordinated by the Cooperative Center for Study Abroad, a consortium of 22 colleges and universities. In addition to Mississippi, member schools are located in Alabama, Idaho, Kentucky, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee.

Classes include anthropology/sociology, art history, biology, communication, education, history, journalism, literature, nursing, political science, psychology, and social work. Faculty members from consortium schools will provide instruction.

Mississippi State art professor Paul Grootkerk is teaching a course in modern British art. Augmenting his lectures will be tours of the Hayward, White Chapel and Tate galleries, as well as other galleries and museums.

In addition to university tuition, the summer program costs $3,345. This includes round-trip airfare, airport transfers, a BritRail pass, a month-long Underground pass, tours of London, Salisbury and Stonehenge, daily continental breakfast, and vouchers for 20 more meals.

Housing will be provided in the residence halls of King's College.

To enroll, a $100 non-refundable deposit must be made by Dec. 1. An additional $1,500 is due by Feb. 15 and the remaining amount by April 15.

Limited CCSA tuition grants and President's Fund for Honors Excellence are available.
