Kristi V. Brown is the new assistant director of enrollment services at Mississippi State University.

A 1992 MSU communication/public relations graduate, Brown primarily will direct the school's new student and parent orientation programs. She also will assist in coordinating other major on-campus recruiting events.

Brown, who assumes her new duties Oct. 12, most recently was a Starkville public relations consultant. Previously, she was executive director of the Ridgeland Tourism Commission. Prior to that, she served as director of the Starkville Visitors and Convention Bureau.

A part of the Division of Student Affairs, the Office of Enrollment Services regularly works with high school and community colleges throughout the Southeast to provide a smooth transition of their students to MSU.

For students enrolling for the first time, the office sponsors a series of detailed orientation programs during the summer, as well as at the beginning of each semester.

Formal approval of Brown's appointment is expected at an upcoming meeting of the Board of Trustees, Institutions of Higher Learning.
