Biological cloning and its potential impacts on humankind will be examined Tuesday [Sept. 29] at Mississippi State University.

"Remaking Eden: Cloning and Beyond in a Brave New World" is the theme of a public discussion to be led by Princeton University professor Lee Silver. The theme also is the title of Silver's book, which recently was released in paperback by Avon Publishing.

To begin at 7 p.m. in the Colvard Union ballroom, the program is co-sponsored by the Campus Activities Board, College of Arts and Sciences and department of biological sciences.

A specialist in the area of social impacts of biotechnology, Silver is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. His presentation, which includes facts and opinions on both sides of the ethical question of cloning, will conclude with a question-and-answer session.

The MSU Bookstore will provide copies of Silver's book for sale before and after the program. Silver will be available to sign copies at both times.

For additional information on the program, telephone the Campus Activities Board at (601) 325-2930.

For information on the book, telephone the bookstore's Priscilla Boyd at 325-2247.
