Mississippi State University is sponsoring a series of October and November seminars in Mississippi, Louisiana and Tennessee to update farmers and small business owners on current tax issues.
Each of the six programs will address the 1997 Taxpayer Relief Act, 1998 federal tax legislation, significant court cases and rulings, technology and IRS tax administration changes, and a variety other related topics.
As they have been for many years, the day-long sessions are organized by the College of Business and Industry's Division of Business Services.
Instructors will be accounting professors Zoel Daughtrey of MSU, Daryl V. Burckel of McNeese State University in Lake Charles, La., and Frank M. Messina of the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Seminar dates, registration deadlines and locations include:
Oct. 29-30, Oct. 8 deadline, Mississippi State's Bost Center Auditorium;
Nov. 3-4, Oct. 13 deadline, Memphis, Tenn., Marriott Hotel;
Nov. 5-6, Oct. 15 deadline, Jackson, Hilton Hotel and Convention Center;
Nov. 10-11, Oct. 20 deadline, Hammond, La., Holiday Inn Conference Center;
Nov. 12-13, Oct. 22 deadline, Monroe, La., Holiday Inn Holidome; and
Nov. 19-20, Oct. 29 deadline, Cleveland [Miss.], Delta State University's Alumni-Foundation House.
A $185 registration fee covers materials, instruction and refreshments. If space is available, walk-ins will be accepted for a fee of $200 per person.
