Areas residents with United States military service are invited next week to Mississippi State University for the inaugural 1998-99 school year meeting of the Epsilon Tau Sigma national veterans fraternity.

Chartered earlier this year, the 30-member ETS campus chapter is holding its fall semester Membership Callout. The public program begins at 5 p.m. Thursday [Sept. 3] in the Colvard Union's third-floor auditorium.

Open to men and women, the national organization was founded in 1990 at Purdue University "to help collegiate veterans adjust to and excel in the university environment."

Currently, more than a dozen chapters have been established. In addition to veterans, the organization welcomes current military reservists, National Guard members and ROTC cadets who have a contractual obligation to the military.

Senior biological sciences major Davis McAlister Jr., an Army veteran from Brandon, is MSU chapter president. Maj. Timothy D. Croft, assistant professor of military science in Army ROTC, is faculty adviser.

For more information on the program, telephone McAlister at (601) 325-5737 or Croft at 325-1585.
