A former associate dean of engineering is Mississippi State's interim dean of continuing education.
Clayborne D. Taylor, who recently retired as professor and associate dean of engineering for research and graduate studies, assumed his new duties July 1, pending state College Board approval.
The Division of Continuing Education provides a variety of credit and non-credit programs to non-traditional students.
In addition to his continuing education duties, Taylor will continue to serve as interim director of the Starkville campus' Center for International Security and Strategic Studies.
An MSU alumnus, Taylor earned his bachelor's degree in physics in 1961. He then received master's and doctoral degrees in physics from New Mexico State University.
The author of more than 70 journal articles and numerous papers, he also co-authored a book, "High Power Microwave Systems and Effects." He is in his third year as associate editor for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Transactions on Education journal.
Taylor joined the MSU faculty in 1967.
