Applications from junior high and high school students are now being accepted for the weeklong summer residential music camp at Mississippi State University.

Offered for the 37th year on the Starkville campus, the intensive instrumental and choral training program will be held July 19-25.

The 1998 session will include classes in music theory, conducting and Broadway musicals. Special auxiliary training units will focus on drum major leadership, baton twirling and flag, rifle and dance maneuvers.

Performance experience will be available in small vocal, chorus and instrumental ensembles, as well as jazz and concert bands. The week will end with a final performance at 1 p.m. on the 25th.

The music education department and MSU's Division of Continuing Education are co-sponsors. Early registration is encouraged, though applications will be accepted through July 13.

Students will be housed in campus residence halls under the supervision of camp personnel and resident counselors. A limited number of non-residential day students also will be accepted.

For more information about application and fees, contact camp director Jerry Williams at (601) 325-3490.
