John R. Dickerson is the new associate director of enrollment services at Mississippi State University.

Former associate dean for student life at Mississippi College, Dickerson will have primary responsibility for the recruitment of community and junior college students. He succeeds Ed Davis, who resigned earlier this year to become chief administrative officer at East Mississippi Community College.

After graduating from Jim Hill High School in Jackson, Dickerson received an associate of arts degree from Hinds Community College and a bachelor's in business administration from M.C. He also holds a master's degree in counselor education from Mississippi State.

Before being named an associate dean at M.C., he held a succession of other posts there, including admissions counselor, acting director of recruitment and associate director of admissions.

"John brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the university and, in particular, the Enrollment Services Office," said director Jimmy Abraham. "His qualifications enable him to have an immediate impact on Mississippi State's efforts to reach community and junior college students throughout the state and region."

Until recently, Enrollment Services was known as the Office of College and School Relations. The name was changed "to more accurately reflect its mission," Abraham said.
