Mississippi businesses interested in developing or improving international commerce skills are invited to a four-part program being held in Hinds County during October and November.
"International Finance and Trade Practices" is the overall theme for workshops taking place Oct. 15, 22, 29, and Nov. 5 at the Eagle Ridge Conference Center of Hinds Community College.
The workshops are sponsored by the Partnership for International Business at Mississippi State University and HCC. The partnership is a part of the university's College of Business and Industry.
Each session begins at 9 a.m. and concludes at 1 p.m. The center is located at 1500 Raymond Lake Road in Raymond.
Specific programs include:
--Oct. 15, "International Contracts and Legal Issues," led by Alan J. Lowenthal, president of Global Access Resources in Atlanta, Ga.
--Oct. 22, "International Trade Practices," led by Harold Hugans, president of Atlanta Custom Brokers.
--Oct. 29, "Exchange Rates and Hedging," led by Noor Doja, executive director of the Minnesota Trade Office's Export Finance Authority.
--Nov. 5, "International Contracts and Legal Issues." (Speaker to be named later.)
Advance registration for the workshops is required by Oct. 8. A fee of $45 per session or $160 for all four can be paid at the door.
The CPA Association and the Mississippi Commission on Legal Education approve the workshops for continuing education hours. Certificates will be awarded to persons completing the programs.
