Competing overseas focus of business program

Contact: Sammy McDavid

A public program designed to help Mississippi businesses compete in international markets will be held Sept. 26 in Starkville.

"Developing International Trade" is the title of a noon presentation at the Starkville Holiday Inn sponsored by the Partnership for the Enhancement of International Business at Mississippi State University.

Randy Folks, director of the graduate program in international business at the University of South Carolina, will be featured speaker.

Reservations for the free 90-minute program are being accepted on a first-come basis. Sept. 23 is the reservation deadline.

Led by College of Business and Industry faculty members Edwin H. Duett Jr. and Richard L. Still, the international business partnership project is supported by a $300,000 U.S. Department of Education grant. Duett teaches finance; Still, business law.

Folks, the featured speaker, leads a USC graduate program ranked among the top five in international business education by U.S. News and World Report for the past eight years. Much of the program's prominence has been credited to its successful partnership with the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration, Austria's leading business school.

To make reservations or obtain additional information on Folks' address, telephone Janis Bryant at (601) 325-8475.
