More than 2,000 state teachers will gather at Mississippi State University next week for the 18th annual Mississippi Vocational Education Conference.
The university-based Research and Curriculum Unit is host for the July 30-Aug. 1 meeting.
The conference theme, "Experience the Possibilities," reflects the new statewide marketing strategy emphasizing the role of vocational and technical education in workforce development.
Educational leaders from Florida, Arizona, Oklahoma, and California will address such issues as effective instructional strategies and the application of technological advances in the classroom.
In addition to various training sessions and workshops, the conference will feature Mark Scharenbroich of Minnetonka, Minn., a nationally known motivational speaker for educators. "The Uncommon Educator" will be the topic of his address at the conference's first general session in Humphrey Coliseum.
