A project to extend underground utility pipes at Mississippi State University will close several university streets, including much-traveled Lee Boulevard in the heart of campus.
Lee is scheduled to close Monday, May 19, and reopen June 9 while a heating and chilled water loop is extended from the north to the south side of central campus.
The next phase of the project will close the driveway between Colvard Union and Perry Cafeteria June 10-July 8. Subsequent phases will affect parking lots and traffic near McCool and Montgomery halls as the project progresses southward.
Pipe from the cafeteria to the Drill Field will be laid July 9-Aug. 5 and from the Drill Field to McCool and the under-construction Swalm Building Aug. 6-Sept. 3.
The $830,000 utility loop extension is scheduled for completion Nov. 7.
South Central Heating & Plumbing Co. Inc. of Jackson is the contractor.
