A business education honor society at Mississippi State University is being recognized as one of the best in the nation.

The campus chapter of Pi Omega Pi recently was named one of the top 10 chapters in the United States. The student group's honor was presented in New York City at the annual meeting of the National Business Education Association.

"This is the first time our chapter has ranked," said Connie Forde, chapter adviser and professor of technology and education. Selection is based on national, community and local service projects, she added.

Chartered at Mississippi State in 1939, the 11-member chapter received a seventh place ranking for projects. Among the group's efforts during the school years were a workshop for state business teachers on the use of Microsoft office computer software and a newsletter dealing with business and international etiquette and on computer "netiquette."
