Students enrolling for the first time this fall at Mississippi State University are encouraged to attend one of five campus orientation sessions in June.
Three two-day programs for incoming freshmen and two single-day programs for transfer students provide a head start in preparing for college life. In addition to scheduling fall classes, students--and their parents--will have the opportunity to meet faculty members and administrators, as well as students already enrolled.
This year's dates for freshmen are June 7 and 8, 12 and 13, and 21 and 22. Transfers will meet June 6 and 20. Separate, concurrent sessions are held for parents.
"Students tell us that orientation is so very beneficial because it allows them to see the university up close, learn about the many services available and visit with people who work and go to school here," said Jimmy Abraham, associate dean of student services and director of orientation.
Last year's total attendance of more than 4,200 students and parents set an orientation record at the university, Abraham added.
Complete information about orientation can be obtained by writing to the Office of College and School Relations, Box 6334, Mississippi State, MS 39762-6334. The telephone number is (601) 325-3076.
