An expert in leadership theories and practices is the winner of the 1997 Continuing Education Outstanding Faculty Award at Mississippi State University.
Jimmy Richardson, who retired last year as a staff development leader from the Mississippi Cooperative Extension Service, was honored in recent campus ceremonies.
Presented by Provost Derek Hodgson, the award recognizes Richardson's commitment to continuing education and lifelong learning. He taught continuing education courses since 1986.
A native of Yazoo County, Richardson served four years in the Air Force before receiving his bachelor's degree from Mississippi State in business management. He earned a master's degree in adult education from the University of Southern Mississippi and a doctorate from Iowa State University.
He is the author of a weekly leadership newsletter, a qualified Myers-Briggs personality-typing interpreter and the owner of a private consulting firm.
