Future students urged to attend spring 'Discovery'

High school and community college students planning to enroll at Mississippi State University are invited to Feb. 21 "Discovery: MSU" activities on campus.

"For graduating students considering Mississippi State as their college of choice, spring semester 'Discovery' should be a must," said Jimmy Abraham, associate dean of student services.

Registration will take place 8-9:30 a.m. at the big top tent on the Drill Field. During this time, information will be provided on admissions, housing, financial aid and scholarships, as well as a range of available student activities. (In case of bad weather, registration will be held in the Colvard Union lobby.)

An opening assembly will follow registration in nearby Lee Hall auditorium. Following the program, students--and participating parents--will have an opportunity to meet with academic advisers, faculty members and staff from their intended fields of study.

Also part of the day's schedule will be academic competitions for interested students in art, chemistry, foreign languages, history, and physics. Winners will be announced during an afternoon ceremony.

In addition, Mississippi State's nationally ranked baseball team plays Samford University at 3 p.m. that day at Dudy Noble Field. Tickets can be purchased at the Bryan Athletic Building ticket office, which is located across the street from the baseball stadium.
