Mississippi State University is holding the spring 2017 commencement ceremony on its Starkville campus. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. Processional begins at 9:30 a.m., with the formal ceremony starting at 10 a.m. Dr. LouAnn Woodward, vice chancellor for health affairs at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and dean of UM’s School of Medicine, will deliver the keynote address. A Carroll County native and 1985 MSU microbiology graduate, she previously was UMMC’s associate vice chancellor. Nearly 2,900 Mississippi State students are candidates for 2017 spring semester degrees. W.G. “Mickey” Holliman Jr. of Tupelo will receive an honorary doctorate of science during the Saturday morning ceremony featuring students from MSU’s College of Architecture, Art and Design, College of Arts and Sciences, and the College of Business and its Adkerson School of Accountancy.
