In honor of Women's History Month, Alicia Garza, co-creator of the viral hashtag #blacklivesmatter and a central figure in the Black Lives Matter movement, will deliver a keynote address at Mississippi State. Sponsored by the MSU Department of Sociology's Gender Studies program, Garza's talk is titled “Say Her Name: Gender, Feminism, and the Black Lives Matter Movement.” Support for the presentation also is provided by the College of Arts and Sciences, Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President, Holmes Cultural Diversity Center, African American Studies program and President's commissions on the Status of Minorities and Women.
