The Fashion Design and Merchandising program in Mississippi State's School of Human Sciences is co-hosting a Mississippi cotton merchandising event Friday [Nov. 20] from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. The "Mississippi Cotton: Weaving Futures (2015)" event is a joint project sponsored by MSU, along with Delta State University and the University of Southern Mississippi. The event is supported by Cotton Student Sponsorship Program of Cotton Incorporated and the School of Human Sciences at MSU. A free lunch will be served to attendees from 11:45 a.m.-1:15 p.m. Speakers in merchandising and design specialties include Nathan A. Pearce, chief executive officer of Fraternity Collection; Eric Hill, director of the MSU Entrepreneurship Center; Textile designer Winki Allen; Tracee Dundas, costume designer and founder of New Orleans Fashion Week; Jan Fitzgerald, assistant director of the MSU Career Center; Tiffany Langlinais, founder and owner of New Orleans-based clothing and jewelry line Freret & Napoleon; and Gallayanee Yaoyuneyong, associate professor in USM's Department of Marketing and Merchandising.
