About this event

Lisa A. Banner, a visiting associate professor at the Brooklyn, New York-based Pratt Institute, will deliver a public lecture titled "Diplomatic Packages: The transmission of Italian disegno from Rubens to Velázquez." Banner also serves as curator of the family collection of Henry Ulke, a renowned 19th century artist and photographer. The collection includes paintings, photographs, documents, manuscripts and memorabilia dating from the 1700s to present day. Most of the portraits and early photographs in "The President's Face: Portraits of Ulysses S. Grant and Abraham Lincoln in Context" exhibit on display through April 30, 2016 in MSU's Ulysses S. Grant Presidential Library represent holdings from Ulke's family. The event is sponsored by the College of Architecture, Art and Design's art department.
