This symposium will focus on two areas--\"Civil War, Civil Rights, and the Politics of Cultural Memory,\" from 1-2 p.m., and \"Civil War, Civil Rights, and the (Re)making of History in U.S. Culture\" from 2:15-3:30. African American Studies Scholar-in-Residence Houston Baker, Jr., will include remarks at this event jointly sponsored by MSU\'s department of English and African American Studies.
